Right now, my SQL skills are at the basics: selecting, filtering, and joining data. But I’m already thinking ahead to what small, portfolio-friendly projects could look like.
Some ideas for later:
- A medication reconciliation checker that flags mismatches between inpatient and outpatient lists.
- A dashboard showing antibiotic usage trends by unit (or therapeutic area) and month.
- A report that highlights patients needing urgent lab monitoring based on their current medications.
These are future goals, not current work. However, learning SQL now lays the foundation. It’s a lot like starting a new clinical specialty: you begin with theory and simple cases, and over time you work toward more complex, real-world problems.
